"If a child can't learn the way we teach, maybe we should teach the way they learn" -Ignacio Estrada
My Teaching Philosophy
I believe young students learn best when they feel safe and accepted in their environment. The feeling of security in a classroom adds to the confidence that is needed, in order to fully focus on learning. Children who feel accepted and loved for who they are as an individual, do not have to worry about making mistakes.
The idea and concept of school is to educate, and prepare children to live to their fullest potential. I believe the role of an educator is to encourage children to be the absolute best that they can be. This includes fully respecting, accepting, and loving who they are individually, and focusing on their interests and strengths. I, as an educator, will try my best to provide individualized instruction and attention to each student. I will not compare student success. Instead, it is my role and passion to celebrate even the smallest amount of success for each student. I want to become a teacher so I can give students the confidence to be themselves, and to strive for their own form of excellence. It is my goal that every student who walks out of my classroom will feel encouraged, confident, accepted, challenged, and loved for who they are. |

My School Experience

Growing up, I loved school! My sister is one grade level above me, so I was always familiar with my elementary teachers. This helped my timid self feel comfortable and relaxed with them. I enjoyed having that close relationship with my teachers. This instilled in me, the importance of having a continuing relationship between teachers and students. I strongly believe that students learn best when they trust their educator.
There were many teachers who had a great impact on my life. Not only did they teach me the basic 'reading, 'riting, and 'rithmetic', but they also taught me the importance of my character and integrity. My elementary teachers taught me to respect and treat everyone with kindness. To this day, I still hold onto these values, and try to practice them everyday. As an educator, it is my job and passion to pass these values along to the students in my classroom. Showing kindness through sharing, working together, and being genuine, are qualities that will follow individuals throughout his/her life. It is important to instill these values of respect and kindness into young children, and it is my goal to do just that, with my future students.
It was in elementary school that I also learned the value of hard work and dedication. Similar to most young students, some subjects came naturally, while others tested my perseverance and patience. It was through those challenging subjects that I learned what it meant to be devoted and to never give up, despite how challenging a situation is. When I am a teacher, I will encourage my students to work to the best of the their ability. I will dedicate myself to be that cheerleader, role model, and support system, that every child needs.
